ICT
There are two types of Goal Online assessment in ICT – interactive national curriculum progress assessments and topic assessments.
Interactive National Curriculum Progress Assessments
Using the latest Flash technology, the ICT interactive assessments allow the application of specific skills to be assessed through emulations of popular software packages. There is a choice of assessment over two or three levels of the National Curriculum (ten questions per level), allowing greater choice and flexibility when planning delivery and subsequent assessment of pupil learning. Audio support of the questions is also available as an option on all levels of assessment.
The optional facility of screening questions can be used to determine the level of assessment for each pupil individually. Alternatively, fixed level assessments can be selected for the whole class instead. View more information about the interactive ICT assessments.
Topic Assessments
These Topic assessments assess pupils’ understanding against specific topics from QCA schemes of work. They cover all schemes of work for years three to six at Key Stage 2 and years seven to nine at Key Stage 3. Those for the Key Stage 3 years also feature the option of audio support, zoom function and a new user interface. They also feature improved reports with personalised can-do and target statements for pupils.
Reports
All assessments are automatically marked enabling reports to be viewed and printed off for individual pupils and whole classes, reducing teacher workload and enabling full monitoring of pupils’ progress.
The reports give detailed feedback on individual and class performance, including assessment scores and National Curriculum levels achieved targets for future achievement and summaries of strengths and weaknesses.
All pupil reports for ICT assessments feature ‘can do’ statements for questions answered correctly and target statements for those answered incorrectly. These statements have been written for each question specifically rather than for topic areas in general, allowing teachers and pupils to target particular areas of weakness.
