Maths

We all know that the key to edging pupils over that D/C boundary is to be able to identify what pupils can and can't do and so plug the gaps. Our National Curriculum Progress Assessments are ideal for this. The NC level assessment at level 567 covers topics that pupils need to understand in order to gain a grade C.

Goal provides detailed reports identifying pupils’ strengths and weaknesses.  The reports are based on two different types of assessment: interactive and multiple-choice National Curriculum progress assessments. Individual pupil reports provide 'can do' and 'target' statements.

Interactive National Curriculum progress assessments make use of the latest Flash technology in order to assess a wide range of pupils’ knowledge, skills and understanding.  Each assessment covers three national curriculum levels with 10 questions at each level.   Teachers can select the three levels of the assessment or they can choose an assessment that presents pupils with four, six or eight screening questions.  How well the pupils answer these questions will determine the levels of the assessment.  Audio is available for these assessments. A class report lists the national curriculum level, with sub levels, achieved by each pupil, together with a target level for 12 months’ time.  The report gives the percentage of questions answered correctly in each of AT2, AT3 and AT4, in each of the 10 Goal strands and in each of the new Primary Strategy strands.

Pupil reports have ‘can do’ statements for each question answered correctly and ‘target statements’ for those questions not answered correctly.

Multiple-choice National Curriculum progress assessments are similar in structure to the interactive assessments. Each assessment consists of 10 questions at each of three consecutive National Curriculum levels.  For more information about the multiple choice assessments click here

Area, key objective and end of term assessments. These are 20-question multiple-choice assessments covering either specific topics in mathematics linked to each year or the work that a teacher might expect to cover in a term.

Class reports give a breakdown of how the class has done in each question.  Individual pupil reports provide similar information together with a brief description of each question.  The questions, together with the correct answer, are available and can be printed out.
